For Francophone community, July 14 has a special significance: Bastiile’s conquest by revolutionaries in 1789. French revolution overturned absolute monarchy, proclaiming ” Freedom, equality, fraternity”, which practically became the Revolution’s burden. July 14 is France’s National Day when French citizens stately celebrate it . 14th of July is an unique day for French people, a day celebrated in the spirit of liberty.In France, this year, despite rainy weather, thousands of French celebrated The National Day by taking part to the military parade.
To mark this day in Bucharest, a reception took place in the French Embassy, where diplomats, employees of the Embassy, as well as French important businessmen were invited. Thus, the location became a symbol of French community hrough flags displayed on the building. The reception was opened by Ambassador Henri Paul’s speech, followed by Emil Boc’s and Mircea Geoana’s interventions.
