Saint Nicholas, protector of children, also celebrated on Cocor MediaChannel

Saint Nicholas is celebrated worldwide and is known as protector of the poor, the sailors, travelers and especially children. On 6th of December 2009 , romanians also celebrated those who are named Nicholas and children received beautiful gifts that are affectionately expected each year. Cocor MediaChannel provided a clip showing the saint and portrayed some of the miracles done in his life. In Europe, countries like the Netherlands and Greece have St. Nicholas as the patron saint, but also cities in Germany, France, Belgium, Italy, Austria and Switzerland.

He proved to be protector of children in a story about three sisters, daughters of a poor man. Because of poverty they were not married. Saint Nicholas heard the girls crying , because thier father was forced to sell them and the saint in compassion with them left in front of the house a gold pouch. So the elder sister was married.

He did so in the second year for the middle sister.

In the third year the girls’s father hid to see who gives them gold, but the saint for not to be seen ascended the roof and left the bag with money through the horn. The bag fell into a stocking so since then children leave socks / shoes to receive gifts.
