On December 10, Ramada Bucharest North hosted the ninth edition of Festival Christmas Trees.
The focus of this Gala was the auctioning of 23 Christmas tree decorated by famous Romanian designers such as:Venera Arapu, Irina Schrotter, Wilhelmina Arz, Rita Muresan, Lena Criveanu, Stephan Pelger, Ioan Nemtoi, Togo Design, Oxette, Victoria 46, Mihaela Glavan, Ana Wagner, Kristina Dragomir, Agnes Toma, Cristian Samfira, Irina Marinescu.
Organised under the slogan „Christmas is, in its final essence, the season for kindling the genial flame of charity in the heart!, the Festival of Christmas Trees is initiated every year by Save the Children foundation.The novelty this year came from IKEA, who decorated a Christmas tree with its own products. Among public figures who auctioned the trees there were: Amalia and Ilie Nastase, Nadia Comaneci, Camelia Sucu, Marius Ivan, while the event was hosted by Andi Moisescu and Andreea Raicu. In 2008, the Festival’s initiative achieved its goals and collected over 300,000 euro for disadvantaged children.The amount collected this year is 275,000 euro which will be used for Save the Children projects in 2010.

Save the Children is an NGO that promotes and protects children’s rights in Romania since 1990.
The Festival of Christmas Trees is not the only social project initiated by the foundation as Save the Children opened in early December the first center of Emotional and Behavioral Education for Children.
